The canvas is blessed with holy water, rosemary, and lavender, a prayer is inscribed on the surface.
Come to me, My Sister
Speak to me of my deepest longing
My heart is open to hear
Grant me Peace within my body, within my mind
Bring my Light from the darkness and TO the darkness
Show me the Royal Priestess that I AM
In Gratitude, Sally 4-23-15
The initial colors represent from “deepest night to the dawn of possibility” with a color for my prayer of deepest longing. An angel showed up!
As I watched the videos with Shiloh & Kayleen, listening to guidance and the stories of myth & legend, of the symbology in art connected to Mary Magdalene, I was inspired. Following the steps on the Color of Woman method, my Magdalene slowly emerged through the many layers and glazes. I was reminded that even when I am focused on my goal, there will be times along the journey I will feel lost and unsure. When I connect back to my intention, it all works out.
During the painting process, I was also studying Mary Magdalene in preparation for a trip to the South of France in the fall of 2015. My painting’s 2-color face is symbolic of the debate if Mary Magdalene and Mary of Bethany are in fact the same woman. I like Kayleen Asbo’s interpretation that she is both. She was Mary of Bethany up to the anointing of Jesus with precious oil. This event represented a Divine Transformation signifying Jesus as the Christ (Anointed One) and Mary of Bethany as the Magdalene (Elevated or Magnificent One).
The black framework represents the cave often associated with the Magdalene. This was not part of my original design but showed up after I thought she was “finished.” Upon completion, she appears to be emerging from the dark of the cave, just as our relationship to the Divine Feminine is emerging into the collective consciousness.
The chalice and columns (mostly hidden in the painting) represent my connection to the Divine and my Divine protection. The Alabaster Jar and seven roses represent my connection to the Magdalene and ask of me “what is my precious oil to anoint the world with?” The seven roses also represent the metaphysical interpretation of the story of seven demons being cast out of Mary Magdalene thought to mean her seven chakras were balanced bringing enlightenment to her body.
While painting May 26, 2015, she brought me the following message:
I am about living IN my heart FROM my heart.
I am about KNOWING my sacred role in this world.
I am about KNOWING my worth.
I am about KNOWING the value in my feminine energy.
KNOWING the strength that is inherent in my softness – in my being – in my allowing.
I will hold space with you in my nurturing.
I walk through this life – this world – with Grace – with Ease – with Peace.
I do not have to FORCE things to happen for I know all is well & all is LOVE.
The creation is in my presence.
I have no-thing to prove.
I compete with no-thing.
I know within my being that I KNOW.
There is no guilt – no shame.
There is KNOWING. There is GREAT Wisdom. There is LOVE.
The beauty is in my emotions, in my feelings, for you see my compassion, my caring, my JOY.
I am happy to serve and I am equally happy to receive.
The wheel is balanced. The wheel spins.
My feminine energy is a gift not a hindrance nor does it signify I am less than.
My nurturing presence brings me strength and peace.
The back stretchers of “Let Them Hear” are anointed with Spikenard. The sides of my paintings are painted red to honor the “Red Thread” tradition of many cultures. This tradition says that people who are destined to meet are connected by a red thread from birth. The thread may tangle and stretch, but it will never break.
“Let Them Hear” was juried into the RE-IMAGE-ING MARY MAGDALENE Art Show presented by Brigid’s Place in Houston, Texas. On exhibit July 7, 2015 through August 3, 2015. Received Third Place recognition.
Despite human failings, LOVE is always enough. Forgiveness is the key.
