"Worthy" (Inner Healer)
The canvas was blessed with holy water, an intention inscribed on the surface.
I invite the collective wisdom; I have self compassion; I AM Ready!

The theme of this process was based in Intentional Creativity and Dr. Lissa Rankin’s book MIND OVER MEDICINE. Dr. Rankin believes that “thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can alter the body’s physiology.” This process was designed to help participants tune into the voice of their own “inner healer.” Through Dr. Rankin’s six step healing process:
1) Bring awareness to your beliefs (conscious & subconscious). This is not about shaming yourself, but about shifting your limiting beliefs into empowering antidotes.
2) Create the right support. Develop your own “round table” of experts, includes actual people, but also your Spiritual practices.
3) Get in touch with your inner healer’s voice through prayer & meditation, believing that your body KNOWS.
4) Diagnose the root cause of the issue, finding a balance between victimization and hyper-responsibility. Come from place of inquiry, “I wonder if….”
5) Write a prescription for yourself. Choose, empower, and integrate. Remember there can be healing without curing.
For me this process began with trusting that part of myself already KNOWS what to do for my health. I connected with my Truth, I gave up shame, and I said YES to miracles. I looked at trusting Divine Will more than egoic wants. At the time I painted, I was facing the health challenges of uterine fibroids and lack of an overall feeling of wellness.
As difficult as it may be to accept, we hold onto our limiting beliefs because at some level there is a “payoff” for us. Maybe we use it to get attention; maybe we use it as an excuse to avoid something (or someone) or to rationalize our behavior. When we bring consciousness to these choices, we can begin to shift the behavior if we are willing. It is very important to cultivate and create great support through the process. Symbols were added to the canvas to represent our structure of support.
The initial colors represent 1) the belief I had about the issue (brown); 2) the potential / miracle / the “maybe” (blue/purple); 3) wholeness (yellow green).
Limiting beliefs were written on scraps of paper, then turned over to write a new empowering belief. These papers were then collaged onto the back of the painting.
Through a guided mediation I met my Inner Healer and discovered the colors to bring to the painting, as well as more symbols representing my prescription and my new intention for my health. My Inner Healer gave me “gifts” of a rose quartz, a pyramid to represent Higher Wisdom (a reminder to use my Spiritual practices), chamomile (a calming, soothing herb), a feather (reminder to have more fun, laugh more), and a fish (Omega’s have many health benefits when added to the diet). My Inner Healer also reminded me that I am always safe; I am always enough; and that despite how things may appear, All is well!
I was also asked to inquire “Who would I be if I weren’t always trying to ‘fix’ myself?”
The flames in the lower corner were added to represent that Inner Divine Spark, our inner pilot light, which is ALWAYS lit!

The sides of my paintings are painted red to honor the “Red Thread” tradition of many cultures. This tradition says that people who are destined to meet are connected by a red thread from birth. The thread may tangle and stretch, but it will never break.
